Ingredients of New England Corn Chowder

  1. You need 1/2 pound of bacon, chopped.
  2. You need 1 of medium onion, small dice.
  3. You need 4 of medium potatoes, diced.
  4. Prepare 2 cups of water.
  5. Prepare 24 of Saltine crackers.
  6. Prepare 2 cups of milk (I use cashew).
  7. You need 2 cups of frozen corn, thawed.
  8. It's to taste of turmeric, S&P.

New England Corn Chowder instructions

  1. In your soup pot, cook bacon over medium heat.
  2. When bacon is almost done, add onion and cook til translucent.
  3. Add potatoes and water, cook until potatoes are tender.
  4. As potatoes cook, crush crackers and put into a bowl, add milk and let sit.
  5. When potatoes are tender, add cracker and milk mixture and corn. Add seasoning.
  6. Simmer until heated through.
  7. Make it vegetarian, omit bacon and cook onion in 3 Tbs butter (or refined coconut oil to make it vegan).
  8. Serve with biscuits.
  9. To make fish chowder just add 1 pound of haddock or a chowder mix of any white fish when adding the crackers and corn..
